Ted Carroll shown here with his Bass that weighed in at 9.24 pounds.
Please remember that on Saturday, August 30, beginning at 10:30 A.M. The CWC will be having the first Family Day.  The location of the event will take place on Firecracker Park.  For those of you that do not want to drive a boat, we will have two additional options to get to Firecracker Park.

Option 1--We will be running shuttle service from NK 20, which is the CWC Main Office and you will be able to make a return ride on a regular basis.  For those of you that choose this option, you may park in the CWC parking area and go down to the big pier.  Within a short time, someone will pick you up and take you to the Park.

Option 2-You may park at Arrowhead Park and walk into the park.  We may try to have some type of shuttle service at that location too.

We will have about 800 Hotdog's for everyone to eat and if we get close to running out of Hotdogs, we will insure that we have sufficient quanities on hand, along with all the trimmings.  The drinks that will be available are Lemonade and ice water.  Some of the ladies and a couple of men around the lake are preparing about 800 cookies to have for everyone's sweet tooth.  If the cookies are not sweet enough, we will have about 7 different flavors of Snow Cones.

Once the event is completed, I will post all of the volunteers name who came forth to help make this a successful day for the Families that attend.  You know that many of the volunteers are members of the Fishing Club and the KFT Club.

Be sure to take note of the Tee Shirts that the volunteers and board members are wearing during the event.  The CWC will be taking orders for Tee Shirts if someone would like to have the
FINAL LIMITED EDITION shirt for this event.  The Tee Shirts will sell for $10.00 each and will be available in the adult sizes of Medium, Large, XLarge and XXL.  I believe we can get the XXXL if they are desired.  Below you will see a photo of the back of the Tee Shirt.  The final day to order a shirt will be September 26.  You may contact Kati at the CWC Office to place your order.  If we  get at least 72 shirt orders, we will reduce the sale price even more for you.  Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery to the CWC Office.  We may be able to obtain the shirts in White, Light Blue, the Original Gray, and possibly one other color.  If we are unable to purchase the other colors, the shirt will be the Gray as pictured below.

If you attend this event and think that we need to continue this event each year, please e-mail me at bo4fishn@aol.com or call me at 903-643-2538 or you may leave a message for me with Kati at the CWC Office or contact one of the board members you know and request your message be forwarded to me.  We need your input!

CFC Kid's annual Catfish Tournament
When:   Saturday September 27, 2008
Where: CWC Hatchery Ponds at North Boat Ramp just off of Highway 149
Time:   8:00 A.M. until all Kid's have had a chance to fish
In just a few weeks, the Cherokee Fishing Club will be hosting the Annual Kid's Catfish Tournament.  As I understand, we will have over 4,000 Catfish in the 10"- 12" size range and several Catfish that are in the 2+ pound size.

Ray is attending to ordering the Trophies that will be awarded to the Kid's entered into the Tournament and Dave has advised me that the man that supplied donuts in the past, will be ready to make some cookies for the large group of "Kid's" that will attend.

Very shortly, we will be asking for volunteers to help set up the new canopies the club purchased for this event and for members that would like to help removing hooks from the fish and making sure there is a never ending supply of bait for the young fishermen.  We will also need help with photos, providing drinks, working at the registration and release document tables, and all of the other things that need to be addressed on this fun day.

We will be asking for volunteers at the next meeting and if you cannot make it to the meeting, call me at 903-643-2538 or e-mail me at bo4fishn@aol.com and I will be glad to sign you up.
Keep in mind that the Fall Open Bass Tournament will take place on October 4, 2008 and that happens about 6 days after the Kid's Catfish Tournament.  Be sure to get your entry form out of the Chatter you recieve in the first week of September because that will be the only time it will be available in print.  You can always come to this site and make a copy of the one here.  Just click on Bob Colwells photo.  I will have some at the September meeting too.
November CFC Election of Officers
All positions for club officers are open for the next election and all current officers may choose to run again.  Two positions, Tournament Director and Social Director, will not have the incumbent running.  If you would like to run for any position, be sure to self nominate or have a friend nominate you for whatever position you would like to have.  This will be a great time to give your service to the Cherokee Fishing Club, so don't hesite to throw your hat into the ring.  I must warn you that each Officers position requires teamwork, self motivation, desire to improve the Fishing Club, and quite a bit of your spare time.   If you are unsure about committing the time and work, this may not be the time to offer yourself to serve in any of the officers positions.
